The School currently works in partnership with Sale Sharks where we have staff at the club studying for the MSc Strength and Conditioning and MSc Sports Injury Rehabilitation. We have had a number of students on placement with the club each year who have had the chance to be heavily involved in the development and monitoring of the athletes.
Adam Grainger, head of performance at Sale Sharks, works closely with our staff to manage the team’s testing, scientific support and internship programme. He believes that the placement experience, “provides the students with an experience that they cannot gain from the classroom or academic books. They see what works in elite sport and how to conduct themselves. Our interns get involved in all aspects of the training program including gym assistance, testing days, match day and less glamorous tasks such as urine testing! Many of the staff currently working at Sale Sharks are actually past Salford students, or current post graduate students, including myself!”
