Jean Mason

Lecturer in Midwifery

I am a registered midwife and nurse with extensive clinical experience in clinical and managerial roles. I became a lecturer practitioner in 2006 and a full time lecturer in 2011. I have a keen interest in mentorship and preceptorship and this was the focus of my MSc research. I have had several related publications and also presented at the NET conference (2015) on this subject.

I am year lead for level 6 midwifery 156 week programme and also lead specifically on 2 level 6 modules, Challenges of Midwifery Practice and Midwifery 5. I teach across all midwifery modules as required. I also support the maternal AIM faculty and I am a link lecturer for Wigan RAEI and the IOM. I am currently supporting the programme lead role for the Midwifery 156 week programme. Until recently I was module lead for level 7 mentorship and I am currently teaching and assessing on the new inter-professional module. Within my role I have responsibility for the local induction of new staff.
