Summary

Salford lecturer Dr Samantha Newbery brings her world-leading research in intelligence studies to London to share with our alumni and supporters

Event details

This year have we have invited Dr Samantha Newbery, Lecturer in Contemporary Intelligence Studies at Salford, to present her world-leading research to our alumni and supporters in the city of London.

Media coverage of the recent terror attacks in London and Manchester has criticised the government, police and MI5’s counter-terrorism efforts. Yet at least twenty Islamist terror attacks have been thwarted in the last four years and there has been considerable success in preventing terrorist groups from recruiting new members. This lecture will examine the UK’s approaches to counter-terrorism and explore some of the many opportunities for improvement.
