HandsON - explores why, in British culture, men are still discouraged from showing raw emotion publically. Viva - is a reflection of age, memory and friendship abstracted through dance. Commissioned in 2012 as part of the Dance Channels programme, ‘Viva’ offers a unique perspective on the theme of ‘the passage of time’. Dance Channels - International Contemporary Dance Exchange is a co-commission by Dance Manchester, Trayectos (Zaragoza, Spain) & Corpi Urbani (Genova, Italy).
Into the Unknown - will set out to explore ideas of fear / vulnerability and challenge what it means to be ‘strong' in today’s society. Working with year 2 & 3 dance students Josh Hawkins is interested in creating through exploring narrative texts and challenging the dancers to embody new movement languages.
