My work explores the themes of nostalgia, place and family.

By revisiting Southport, a prominent seaside town from my childhood, I have captured photographs that evoke nostalgia. I have placed archival family imagery upon these contemporary photographs, choosing particular images that have personal resonance: I am merging my own memories with that of older family members, and commemorating the past.

In this project I also question how memory is a shared experience and how we can express this through photographic language. I have studied the colours of archival family imagery to portray the association between memory and colour, questioning: what is the colour of nostalgia?
