Construction and Engineering Apprenticeships

Construction

You only have to glance at the skyline across Manchester to see that the construction sector is thriving. But could an industry-wide skills shortage be about to bring Manchester's boom to a shuddering halt?

As well as an ageing workforce, there is a distinct lack of young talent choosing to enter the construction industry, resulting in a worrying skills shortage within the sector.

Building businesses back up is crucial for the recovery of the economy following the repercussions of the current pandemic, and the construction and engineering sectors are vital for the recovery of the nation. We must act now to help close the skills gap and futureproof the construction sector.

There has never been a more significant time, in recent years if not decades, for the need for excellent construction and engineering experts and degree apprenticeships, offer a cost-effective way to up-skill your staff whilst they are still working, allowing them to apply their theoretical knowledge from university to the workplace on an ongoing basis.

DEVELOP YOUR WORKFORCE

An apprenticeship combines academic study at university with on-the-job training in the workplace. They are a great way to attract and retain talent, boost productivity and up-skill your workforce.

The benefits of an apprenticeship include:

  • Create ambitious, motivated employees
  • Increase retention by offering employees the chance to progress
  • Improve productivity and competitiveness
  • Bring fresh and innovative ideas into the organisation
  • Tailor learning to fit your business requirements and close the skill gap
  • Up-skill your workforce in a cost-effective way

Funding depends on the size of your organisation. Still, it will either be fully funded by your apprenticeship levy or via co-investment with the government (the government will fund 95% of the training costs).

Our courses

We offer apprenticeship programmes across various construction and engineering subject areas, including quantity surveying, building surveying, property and real estate and civil engineering.

Case Studies

We have welcomed many apprentices to the University across a range of courses such as Quantity Surveying, Real Estate and Development & Management, Civil Engineering and Building Surveying.

Our apprentices have excelled on their chosen apprenticeship and gained valuable skills and experience to progress their careers.
