In a nutshell
This 15 credit Principles of Advanced Practice (PAP) module is theoretical and mandatory if you are new to post-graduate level study and/or intended to further develop your scope of clinical practice.
It is available as part of our MSc Advanced Medical Imaging.
You will:
- Acknowledge and critically appraise advanced clinical practice
- Engage in self-directed learning, critically reflecting to maximise knowledge, promoting an evidence-based practice approach, developing an appreciation of the importance of lifelong learning
- Reflect the breadth of ongoing professional development across the four pillars of advanced clinical practice

This module will help maximise your potential for success in your postgraduate Advanced Medical Imaging study pathway and direct your development across the four pillars of advanced clinical practice.
Its aims are to:
- support you in developing your skills to work independently
- introduce you to the skills of critical reflection
- develop your principles across the 4 pillars of advanced clinical practice

Entry requirements
Previous study and experience
You will hold a degree in BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography or other health care professional qualification, 2:1 or above.
Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL)
We welcome applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully.
The Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) process could help you to make your work and life experience count. The APL process can be used for entry onto courses or to give you exemptions from parts of your course.
Two forms of APL may be used for entry: the Accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning (APCL) or the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL).
