In a nutshell

If you run a small business, or you’re responsible for reaching customers online, learn how to build and maintain an effective digital presence that engages your target audience and promotes your products and services online.

This course takes a practical approach to digital marketing. You will learn how to use and evaluate search, social, content and mobile marketing tools  and deploy impactful channel strategies to drive customers to your business.

This distance learning course is delivered 100% online  allowing you to study flexibly around your business commitments. The course takes a maximum of 12 weeks to complete, and is designed so you can study at your own pace.

You will also get the opportunity to complete Google’s Digital Garage Fundamentals of Digital Marketing  an internationally recognised qualification that will reinforce the topics you learn.

On this course you will:
  • Develop an understanding of the digital landscape and the importance of maintaining an effective digital presence.
  • Learn how to analyse your current digital presence and use measurement techniques to improve it.
  • Explore the role and relevance of key digital platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok.
  • Learn how to make your business more discoverable online using SEO tools like UberSuggest and Google Trends.

All about the course

You will begin by learning about the latest trends and innovations in digital marketing. As you progress, you will learn how to create effective and engaging digital content for a range of social media platforms. By the end of this course, you will understand how to use digital tools to reach and engage customers and promote your business effectively online. You will gain an understanding of digital marketing practices and learn how to deploy a range of strategies to support your business goals.

Fundamentals of Digital Marketing qualification

Teaching:

This course is delivered online. Each week you will work through study materials in your digital workbook, designed to develop your understanding of digital marketing, such as case studies, exercises and video lessons. You will also attend a weekly online session with your course tutor where you can develop your knowledge, ask questions and get feedback on your assignments. Each week you will spend approximately two hours on your digital workbook and one hour in a session with your tutor.

Assessment:

You will complete a portfolio of activities where you apply your new skills and knowledge to your business. This could include a social media campaign, a content marketing strategy or a plan to improve your business's digital presence. To successfully complete this course, you will also complete the Google Digital Garage Fundamentals of Digital Marketing qualification.

If you are interested in further study, you can also progress onto a business and management degree apprenticeship or an undergraduate course in business management and marketing.

What you need to know

This 30 credit course starts on Monday 19 September and takes up to 12 weeks to complete. It's a distance learning course, so you will be taught online. See the accordion below for more details about entry requirements.

 

 

    Entry requirements

    Standard entry requirements

    You will need 96 UCAS points, plus English and Maths GCSE at grades A – C or  9 – 4, or an equivalent level 2 qualification.

    Alternative entry requirements

    If you don’t meet our standard entry requirements but have relevant experience, we will consider your application in line with our Accreditation for Prior Learning (APL) process.

    The APL process could help you to make your work and life experience count. It can be used for entry onto courses or to give you exemptions from parts of your course.

    You should also consider further costs, which may include books, stationery and printing.

    Funding available

    Tuition fee loans are available to help you pay for this course. For students studying our 30 credit short courses, you can apply for the full cost of the course (£2,200).

    The loans are provided by the Student Loans Company (SLC) and applications are made to Student Finance England. You should apply for your loan once you have received your offer letter from us, and before your course starts.
