3-6 July 2018 at the University of Salford, Salford, Greater Manchester
The 3-D Analysis of Human Movement Group, a technical group of the International Society of Biomechanics (ISB), provides a forum for the discussion of all issues relating to the measurement of human movement in three dimensions.
We are delighted to host the XV International Symposium on 3D Analysis of Human Movement (3DAHM-2018) on July 3-6, 2018 in Salford, Greater Manchester, UK.
It seems only yesterday that human movement analysis predominantly took place inside dark laboratories without windows, with researchers being deprived of any daylight and exposed to severe tripping-hazards in form of numerous cables... what a change our field has seen in such short a time! Wireless technology, wearable sensors and numerous apps/freeware used by scientists and the wider public alike, with applications reaching far beyond the clinical arena – simply gobsmacking! Let’s keep up the good work so the journey of our field continues:
The theme of the 2018 symposium is ‘Human Movement - Principles and Practice”:James Joule was working in Salford when he discovered the mechanical equivalent of heat. One of his most famous quotations provides the theme for our symposium: “My object has been, first to discover correct principles and then to suggest their practical evelopment”. This symposium aims to have a particular focus on outlining the principles underlying our discipline and presenting work demonstrating how these principles can be applied in practice.
We will make every effort to deliver an exciting scientific programme accompanied by a number of fun social events. Information on the topics to be covered and also on our excellent keynote speakers can already be found on this site, moreover, our student representative Eleonora Costamagna is presently developing a student programme as part of the activities – so watch this space for further details as they become available.
We are delighted to be hosting this fantastic event where scientists, engineers, clinicians and technology leaders as well as students of these fields can share their views and experience regarding human movement analysis. We look forward to meeting you here in Salford in July 2018, to hear about your latest research and ground-breaking developments in the field!
