Dr Tooska Dargahi

Lecturer in Computer Network Security and Cyber Security


I received my PhD degree in Computer Engineering, in 2014, from Azad University, Tehran Science and Research Branch, Iran. In 2014, I was a visiting PhD at University of Padua, Italy. I lectured at Azad University, West Tehran Branch between 2009 and 2015. I was a Research Fellow with CNIT - University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy, from 2015 to 2017. In December 2017 I joined the University of Salford as a Lecturer in Cyber Security.


I am an active security researcher and I am delivering several professional services. I was a guest editor for a special issue in the IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Computing, and an associate editor of the “Cyber Threat Intelligence” Springer Book. I am a reviewer for several outstanding academic journals including IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security, IEEE Transactions on Big Data, and IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computing. I was also a program committee member, and reviewer in several outstanding conferences and workshops, including ACM SAC 2018, IEEE NFV-SDN 2017, IEEE INFOCOM 2017, DIMVA 2017. Moreover, I have been involved web chair and publicity chair of several workshops including CPS-Sec 2018, CPS-Sec 2017, MoWNet 2018 and SecCPS 2017.



I am delivering different undergraduate and postgraduate modules on cyber security, including penetration testing and cyber threat intelligence.

Research Interests

My main research interests are:

  • Security and privacy in various networking areas (including wireless networks, Internet of Things, and software-defined networks)
  • Cyber security
  • Applied cryptography
