Use of social media for international business development

Learn how to start an international business relationship in social media

Learn how your international business trade can benefit from social media. It can help to develop a business relationship and expand your prospects by targeting the international market.

Activity 1 - Visit Google Display planner introduction.        

Sign in to your AdWords account at
Click the “Tools and Analysis” tab and select "Display Planner."        

On the Display Planner start page, enter a website of a social network you might be thinking about using for developing your international business and see if it is popular in a country you are interested in.        

Activity 2 - Visit and read around          the four social media strategies – think about your needs and which strategy would be appropriate for you? Write down your thoughts combining the justification of the networks from Activity 1. How can you approach Marketing, Support, Operations and Sales on social media?

Activity 3 - Consider how your social media activities will be integrated into other marketing communications whether this is on your website, in company brochures, ads etc. Draft some principles of social media policy, which should help your company to maximise your use of social media.          Here are some examples of social media policies and how to keep them updated:
