Start Up Award – Awards Up To £2,000

The Start Up Award is to help fund and support current students ONLY of the University who have a business idea. This funding can go towards finding out if your idea is viable, learning more about what is needed and trying the project on a small scale before further development. To help fund and support students who have a passion and an idea to make a difference in their community and commitment to change the world for the better.

Criteria

Marking criteria and considerations when applying:

  • You must have the relevant permissions to start a business in the UK.
  • You must be able to provide evidence that there is a need for your business using market research.
  • Your business idea must be sustainable. For example, this can’t be a one-off project, it must be a business that will eventually make enough profit to be able to sustain itself.

Santander Universities Travel Award – Awards of £500 (UK/EU) or £1,250 (International) 

Applications Round Two Open: Friday 20th December 2019

Applications Close: Friday 21st February 2020

Feedback on applications: Friday 20th March 2020

The Santander Travel Award is open to current students ONLY .  It is an opportunity to get funding to go towards a travel opportunity in relation to your studies and to help gain practical experience in your field.

This award can fund: 

  • Travel for internships or work experience in your field of study
  • Study visits linked to a field of study or research.
  • Visit to a conference Please Note: preference will be given to those presenting at a conference over an attendee.
  • Attendance at summer schools.
  • Help with travel, accommodation and living costs for your trip

Marking criteria and considerations when applying:

  • The trip will have significant personal benefits to you and will help overcome any barriers to study.
  • The trip has the potential to lead on to further projects and opportunities.  
  • The trip has links to your field of study. 
  • The trip will give you practical skills that will enhance your employability.
