This is your opportunity to find out what placements and /or graduate opportunities are available to Environment and Life Science students.
Here are some of the reasons why undergraduate students decide to do a placement:
- Improve your employability
Placements provide valuable opportunities for you to develop skills and gain experiences in a workplace environment, which will improve your employability in the future graduate job market. You can use the skills and experiences you have gained on placement to evidence your abilities to employers when you apply for graduate job vacancies and when you are interviewed. Skills and experiences gained on placement can put you ahead of other students / graduates in the graduate job market, especially in the current economic downturn.
- Graduate recruitment
Many employers use placements as a way of finding potential graduate recruits. If an employer likes the work that you do on placement, they may offer you a graduate job which starts after you graduate.
- Insight into work
Doing a placement allows you to get an insight into work and can help you decide which types of employers you want / do not want to work for in the future and what career you want / do not want to aim for.
