The Assessment Centre
Format: DVD/ Streaming, Time: 27 Minutes
The Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS) has published a video which covers information on attending Assessment Centres. This is a 27-minute video that shows what happens at a typical assessment centre when a major employer selects graduates with degrees 'in any discipline'. In fly-on-the-wall documentary style, you see actual candidates taking part in a genuine selection day. Eight of them are assessed by four real selectors in four different situations: a group exercise, giving a presentation, being cross-examined on their presentation and an in-depth interview.
In the film, you sit in on the selectors sessions after each activity and discover how they assess the candidates' performance. The commentary and on-screen learning points reinforce the practical messages of what to expect, and how to maximise your chances of success.
For reasons of copyright, the videos may ONLY be viewed by current students of the University of Salford and staff. A version with subtitles is currently available for watching within Careers and Employability only.
