Val Brown

Programme Leader Film Production

I started my career in Television and Film as a junior camera operator; after years of working in studios and cleaning up cables and fetching and carrying for several Camera people, I progressed through the levels to "Camera". I now work as a Director of Photography on projects that allow me to explore my interest in documentary, drama and short films. My expertise is in the field of lighting for studio and location, so I now work with camera operators rather than as one.
My research interests focus on digital technologies and how these impact on production work flows. I am particularly keen on how DSLR technology has affected film making.
