Biography

I have worked at Salford for the past 5 years. Prior to teaching, I was an award-winning Producer / Director with 15 years’ experience making factual programmes. After doing a BA in German and French and an MA in Modern International Studies, I started my TV career as a researcher making travel programmes for The Travel Channel. I then worked as a producer / director across a wide range of programmes from science and history documentaries to Factual Entertainment. I have made programmes with Stephen Hawking, Desmond Tutu and Rik Mayall among others. I have worked at BBC, Granada TV, Blakeway North and True North and have produced and directed for ITV, C4, BB2, FIVE, Discovery and NatGeo. My Producer / Director credits include: Eye of the Storm, 40 Years of University Challenge, Farewell Mike, Emmerdale Secrets, Battlefield Detectives, Building the Ultimate, Naked Science and Ultimate Olympics. During my 10 years at Granada, I also worked at the New York Times to co-produce factual programmes. I have filmed all over the world including China, USA, South Africa, Mexico, Australasia and Europe and negotiated access to high security secret military locations.
