Maire Tracey

Lecturer in Media Production


Maire Tracey has taught at The University of Salford since September 2014.   Prior to joining the Salford team, Maire taught at the University of Bolton.

Maire is a Producer / Director with 15 years’ experience making factual programmes for ITV, C4, BBC, Discovery and Nat Geo.

After doing an MA in Modern International Studies, she started her TV career as a researcher making travel programmes for  The Travel Channel.  She then worked as a producer / director across a wide range of programmes from Specialist Factual to Factual Entertainment.  Maire has worked at the BBC, Granada TV, Blakeway North and True North.

Her producer / director credits include:  Eye of the Storm (ITV), 40 Years of University Challenge  (BBC)(RTS Award Winning), Farewell Mike (ITV), Battlefield Detectives (FIVE), Spies in the Sky (Discovery), Emmerdale Secrets (ITV2), What’s So Good About Malorie Blackman? (C4) Building the Ulitmate  (FIVE), Naked Science (NAT GEO) and Ultimate Olympics (DISCOVERY).  

Maire spent 10 years working at ITV Granada and during this time she filmed all over the world.  She spent 4 months working at New York Times to co-produce factual programmes.   Her most recent credit was in 2013 as a Series Producer for True North making Designed in China
