Travel

The University is just 2km from Manchester city centre on the A6 and is well-served by Salford Crescent train station – located right on campus, a 5-minute walk from where we'll be based throughout the morning and afternoon – and regular bus services both into and out of Manchester which stop right on campus.

While we do have on-campus parking, during term time the car parks are very busy so we'd strongly recommend that you make use of public transport where possible for this event as parking will be extremely limited.

More information on how to find the University:

Salford Crescent train station is located in the middle of our campus, between our Peel Park and Frederick Road sites, making us very easy to get to by rail. Trains from both Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria run through the station regularly, as well as from Manchester Airport, Blackpool, Southport, Wigan, Blackburn, Preston and Huddersfield. The station is fully accessible for wheelchairs, pushchairs and bicycles.

The Crescent/A6 runs alongside our campus and is a major bus route into and out of Manchester city centre. There are several stops for our campus, so see Transport for Greater Manchester’s Route Explorer to find the best journey for you.

Parking

This is quite a popular event and we expect our car parks to be very busy on the day. We would always encourage you to make use of public transportation wherever possible but even more so for this event.

However, if you do choose to drive, we have set aside places in the Old Police Station car park next to our Irwell Place car park for you to use free of charge for your visit today. Find it on our campus map or use the postcode M5 4WT. You will need to show the QR code on your booking confirmation email to use these spaces, so please ensure you have it either on your phone or printed when you arrive. Spaces are limited, though, so once they’re full, you’ll be redirected to one of our other car parks where you will need to pay to park.

You are welcome to use any of our other car parks on the day; however, you will need to pay to use these. The only free parking today will be in the designated section of the Old Police Station car park..

If you feel like stretching your legs and want to get a feel for the area, we’re a pretty easy 15 minute walk from Manchester city centre. From the Arndale Centre, head across the River Irwell to Chapel Street and take a left…that will bring you past Salford Central train station (on your left), Salford Cathedral (a bit further up on your right) and, about half a mile later, right to our doorstep.

Manchester International Airport is 10 miles from the University. There are regular, direct train services to and from Salford Crescent station and Manchester Piccadilly. Buses also link the airport and Manchester city centre. To find the best journey for you, see Transport for Greater Manchester’s Route Explorer.
