University Transformation Time-line

The transformation of the University campus will be delivered incrementally through a series of phases.

Below is the first phase of our ambitious 20 year vision for the future. All dates are estimated at this stage.

Early 2011
  • Consultations and exhibitions
  • Submission of planning applications for the refurbishment and extension of Chapman Building, student residences, Arts Building and public realm works.
  • Approval expected for the refurbishment and extension of Chapman Building.
Mid 2011
  • Approval expected for the student residences, Arts Building, and public realm works.
  • Submission and approval of Reserved Matters for Student Village.
  • Work starts on site for Arts Building (early enabling work) and Chapman Building refurbishment.
Late 2011
  • Appointment of 3rd party provider for Student Village.
  • Construction begins on Phase 1 - AMSS (New building for Arts, Media and Social Science at Chapman Square).
Early 2012
  • Main construction work starts for Arts Building
Mid 2012
  • Work starts on site for student residences.
  • Chapman Building ready for operation.
Late 2012
  • Construction begins on Phase 2 - AMSS (New building for Art and Design).
Mid 2013
  • Construction begins on public realm.
Late 2013
  • Student residences ready for operation – first beds available for students.
Mid 2014
  • Arts Building ready for operation
