A campus at the heart of the community

Creating exciting new academic space is a crucial part of our vision for a more integrated and vibrant campus.

As part of the transformation of Chapman Square into an active, welcoming hub for students, staff and the local community, we're constructing the Arts Building for the College of Arts, Media & Social Science. Here, the latest technology and state-of-the-art facilities will inspire our students to perform at their best. Our investment in this part of the campus represents our commitment to creating an environment that will encourage academic excellence.

Some of the modern new facilities in the Arts Building will include a theatre, studio space, tuition and practice space, and social learning areas. Members of the local community, too, will be able to enjoy performances, exhibitions and other events in newly developed surroundings.

The combination of green space and paved areas in Chapman Square outside the Arts Building will also provide a perfect venue for students and staff to relax and socialise.

Surrounded by University buildings, with their constant flow of activity, Chapman Square will be at the heart of campus life.

Work on the new Arts Building is scheduled to begin in Autumn 2011.
