Course Summary

The course is aimed at those seeking entry into or career progression into management positions in the Events and Service sector. On successful completion of the foundation degree, you can apply to join level 6 of related programmes delivered at the University of Salford's main campus:

BSc (Hons) Business and Management

BSc (Hons) International Events Management

You will build awareness of business practices linked to Events Management.  You will study core aspects of business as well as distinct specialist modules in Events and Hospitality. You will apply your knowledge and understanding to practical projects and the work environment as part of the work based placement module.  This will help to prepare you for both the world of work and also for further study. You will also have the opportunity to get involved with planning a wide variety of events delivered at the Colleges live music venue, TV studio, radio station and exhibition space.

You will be taught in our brand new centre, FutureSkills, close to the University of Salford MediaCity campus and a short bus ride away from the Peel Park campus. You will be taught by a small number of tutors with Business backgrounds in small groups.  Although you will study at FutureSkills, you can access all main University services and facilities such as student life, the library and accommodation.

On successful completion of the course you have the option of applying for BSc top up programmes (studying for one more year for an Honours Degree) or immediately pursuing career opportunities.

Qualification Entry requirements
GCSE Grade C/4 or above at GCSE (or level 2 equivalent) in both Mathematics and English are required.

Salford Alternative Entry Scheme (SAES)

We welcome applications from students who may not meet the stated entry criteria but who can demonstrate their ability to pursue the course successfully. Once we have received your application we will assess it and recommend it for SAES if you are an eligible candidate.

There are two different routes through the Salford Alternative Entry Scheme and applicants will be directed to the one appropriate for their course. Assessment will either be through a review of prior learning or through a formal test.

English Language Requirements

Applicants will be required to show a proficiency in English. An IELTS score of 6.0 (no element below 5.5) is proof of this.

Applicant profile

This course designed to develop your knowledge and understanding of core business practices central to the operation of all businesses as well as specialist knowledge of Events Management.

The course is aimed at those seeking entry into or career progression into management positions in the Events and Service sector.

You will apply your knowledge and understanding to practical projects and the work environment as part of the work based placement module. The programme is a level 5 qualification awarded in partnership with the University of Salford.

Equivalent professional or academic qualifications (such as NVQ 3 in Hospitality or a related sector) will also be considered please contact admissions for further information. Applications from those holding non-tariff point qualifications in relevant subject areas (such as work based NVQ3s) are welcome.

Grade C / 4 or above at GCSE (or level 2 equivalent) in both Mathematics and English are required.  If English is not your first language you should have IELTS Band 6 or equivalent with no element below 5.5. Other Secure English Languages Tests (SELT) equivalencies are welcome.
