BA (Hons) Film Production

Thanks for coming to our Open Day on Saturday, we hope you enjoyed the day and the weather didn’t dampen your spirits! As one of our Film Production attendees, if you were in our first presentation sessions you’ll know that we had a few technical hiccups and we weren’t able to display Val’s presentation on the screen. We’re really sorry about this – bit of a blooper on our part – and, while Val still went through all the details with you, we realise you might want to see the presentation yourselves. You’ll find it below, along with Val’s contact details at the end if you have any further queries.

You’ll also find some of the other presentations which were delivered on the day – our Welcome Talk and information about support, fees & funding – as well as a few of the questions we’re regularly asked. If you want to refresh your memories and re-watch the videos played during the Welcome Talk, you can find them on our Vimeo page, as well as many others highlighting our students, our staff, our alumni and more.

If you’d like to find out more about any of our courses, have a look at our A-Z of Courses page or you can drop us a line on enquiries@salford.ac.uk, phone us on 0161 295 4545 or tweet us at @SalfordUni.

For another look around campus, try out our Virtual Open Day or feel free to come visit us again for one of our campus tours.

Manchester has such a range of nightlife that there really is something for everyone. Depending on what you’re after, you can find yourself in Factory, Venue, Fifth, 42s or one of the many places on Deansgate Locks! Depending who you ask, you’ll get a different recommendation for the best night out in town!

You can also take a look on Visit Manchester to see the places they suggest.

The University is situated just 2km from Manchester city centre - so close that you can walk in about 15-20 minutes.

Salford Crescent station is located on our campus between Peel Park and Frederick Road. Direct services run to and from Manchester Airport, Manchester Piccadilly and Victoria, as well as Blackpool, Bolton, Buxton, Blackburn, Southport, Preston, Lancaster and Barrow-in-Furness.

There are also many bus services running through campus and the number 50 bus runs through our main campus and continues on to our MediaCityUK campus.

Manchester is a big city and, like all cities, it has its challenges. That being said, it’s home to the largest student population in Europe and the vast majority of students enjoy living here safely. At Salford we are committed to providing a proactive security service that ensures our campus and surrounding community is a safe place in which to study, live and work. Our security team is award-winning, and we pride ourselves on our students being able to study and socialise in a safe environment.

The Nursing Simulation Suites are based on the second floor in the Mary Seacole building, Frederick Road Campus. You can walk between Peel Park and Frederick Road campus in 5-10 minutes.

Alongside the Simulation Suites, the University does also have other hidden gems that make life here exciting! Hopefully, during your visit you were able to check out the Anechoic Chamber or the Octave.

Of course! Our gym is open to all students and staff. You have the option of two different types of membership;

  • ‘All in’ membership = 'all inclusive' allows members to gain access to the five newly refurbished fitness suites, the swimming pool area (including sauna and spa), all the fitness classes and squash court hire.
  • ‘Choice’ membership = members get the choice of one of the following  - the five fitness suites, swimming pool area(including sauna and spa), all the fitness classes or squash court hire.

You then have the option of 2 payment methods: annual or monthly direct debit.

You can find more information about the Sports Centre and gym at www.sport.salford.ac.uk.

The University does have a personal tutoring policy which sets out the respective responsibilities of the Student, the Personal Tutor and the School. The basis of this policy is that each student shall have personal tutor support to provide general guidance on both academic and non-academic issues and problems and to suggest other sources of help.

Our askUS team are also on hand to provide a range of support to our students. This includes: assistance with finances, wellbeing & counselling, visas & immigration, disability & learner support, careers, diversity & faith and academic support.

The deadline for applications is the 15 January 2018.

We certainly do! In December, we will be having a Christmas Social Event for applicants. This is an opportunity to come and visit the University in a relaxed environment and find out more about life at Salford and Manchester. This event isn’t based around academic sessions and is purely an opportunity to get a taste of what we have to offer. Invites will be sent out to applicants during November.

We will also be having Applicant Visit Days between February and April 2018 for offer holders. If you have a conditional or unconditional offer for one of our courses, you’ll be invited to attend one of these events shortly after your offer has been made. The Applicant Visit Days will give you the chance to explore our campus and facilities, tour our accommodation, and get a more detailed insight about the course or subject area that interests you.
