Please note that there are long-term engineering works affecting road travel in the Salford and Greater Manchester area. Please see the 'Car' section below for further information.
Our Mini Open Day Guide will tell you where your sessions are taking place and our campus map will help you find your way around. We’d encourage you to make use of public transport where possible as the event is taking place on a teaching day and our car parks will be busy. The University is located just 2km from Manchester city centre and we have great transport links, regardless of whether you’re travelling from across Greater Manchester, across the UK or from further afield.
Salford Crescent train station is located in the middle of our campus, between our Peel Park and Frederick Road sites, making us very easy to get to by rail. Trains from both Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria run through the station regularly, as well as from Manchester Airport, Blackpool, Southport, Wigan, Blackburn, Preston and Huddersfield. The station is fully accessible for wheelchairs, pushchairs and bicycles.
When you exit the train station, turn left for Peel Park campus, and walk down the hill on University Road towards the large glass building, which is our New Adelphi Building. You'll see the check-in gazebos through the New Adelphi gateway.
The Crescent/A6 runs alongside our campus and is a major bus route into and out of Manchester city centre. There are several stops for our campus, so to find the best journey for you, see Transport for Greater Manchester’s Route Explorer.
There are extensive road improvement works taking place around Salford and Manchester which will very likely impact on travel time. For more information about how it may affect you, please visit Transport for Greater Manchester’s Manchester and Salford Inner Relief Route improvement works page.
We have several pay and display car parks on campus and you can also use the PayByPhone app (code 59323 covers all car parks on campus – the maximum cost is £4 for the whole day).
If you're coming by car, we'd suggest you park in Irwell Place car park (postcode: M5 4WT) which is the largest on-campus car park. Please note that it is a teaching day and the campus and car parks will be busy. Here’s a list of our car parks and their postcodes to help you. If you’re attending one of our courses at MediaCityUK, please see the MediaCityUK section below.
- Irwell Place (415 spaces) - use postcode M5 4WT
- Lowry accommodation (204 spaces) - use postcode M5 4RB
- Delaney accommodation (115 spaces) - use postcode M5 4RB
- Allerton (351 spaces) - use postcode M6 6PU
- Mary Seacole (198 spaces) - use postcode M6 5ST

*Please note that the car park in front of Salford Museum & Art Gallery does not belong to the University, so is subject to parking charges on the day.*
If you feel like stretching your legs and want to get a feel for the area, we’re a pretty easy 15 minute walk from Manchester city centre. From the Arndale Centre, head across the River Irwell to Chapel Street and take a left…that will bring you past Salford Central train station (on your left), Salford Cathedral (a bit further up on your right) and, about half a mile later, right to our doorstep.
Manchester International Airport is 10 miles from the University. There are regular, direct train services to and from Salford Crescent station and Manchester Piccadilly. Buses also link the airport and Manchester city centre. To find the best journey for you, see Transport for Greater Manchester’s Route Explorer.
For our MediaCityUK visitors we’d encourage you to head straight there and check-in when you arrive at our campus.
The University doesn’t have any parking at MediaCityUK but it is well served by public car parks – please use postcode M50 2HE for your sat nav. There are a number of bus routes which link into MediaCity and the tram runs there regularly from Manchester Piccadilly.
To get to main campus to see the accommodation or attend a finance and student support talk, we will be running regular shuttles buses.
