Schedule and Information - Wednesday 6 February 2019

"Ask a lot of questions..."

"Staff and student ambassadors were very accommodating and went into a lot of detail in explaining the courses. They also allowed you to ask a lot of questions."

What’s happening

The overall schedule for the day is included below and you can download a copy too. Any optional sessions you’ve booked onto in the morning are confirmed in your booking confirmation email but we’ll send them again prior to your visit.

We'll be based in University House (building 11 on the campus map) for the morning sessions and then, throughout the day, we'll take you to each of the optional activities and afternoon course sessions. Once you've found us, you shouldn't need to make your own way around campus but we will have our Student Ambassadors around in red tops if you need directing or have any questions about life as a Salford student.

Location and Parking

Location

Throughout the day we’ll take you from place to place depending on which sessions you’ve booked to attend, so don’t worry about needing to find your way around. We’ve included a map in the guide you’ll receive when you check-in and at the below link, though, to help you  get a feel for the campus.

If you are attending any of the optional sessions in the morning, you'll need to visit University House on our Peel Park campus - building number 11 on our campus map – where you can check-in and grab a drink before we split you off into these sessions.

If you are coming only for the Life at Salford talk and afternoon course sessions starting at 1:15pm, please come straight to Chapman Building, building number 10 on the campus map.

The afternoon course sessions will be taking place in several buildings on our Peel Park campus , depending on which course you have applied for. We recommend that you attend the Life at Salford talk first and we will take you from there to wherever your course session is taking place.

How to find us

The University is just 2km from Manchester city centre on the A6 and is well-served by Salford Crescent train station – located right on campus – and regular bus services both into and out of Manchester.

While we do have on-campus parking, we'd recommend that you use public transport where possible as parking does become quite limited during term time.

More information on how to find the University:

Salford Crescent train station is located in the middle of our campus, between our Peel Park and Frederick Road sites, making us very easy to get to by rail. Trains from both Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria run through the station regularly, as well as from Manchester Airport, Blackpool, Southport, Wigan, Blackburn, Preston and Huddersfield. The station is fully accessible for wheelchairs, pushchairs and bicycles.

The Crescent/A6 runs alongside our campus and is a major bus route into and out of Manchester city centre. There are several stops for our campus, so to find the best journey for you, see Transport for Greater Manchester’s Route Explorer.

Parking

We have multiple car parks on campus – any of which you’re welcome to use – and have listed them below. Payment for these is usually via the parking website/app, PayByPhone, but are free to use on 6 February for our Applicant Visit Day visitors.

Parking can become very limited on campus during teaching weeks and our smaller car parks regularly fill up, so we may need to direct you to some of these car parks located slightly further away. Our Student Ambassadors and members of our Security team will be on hand to advise you.

We’ll have signs and Student Ambassadors to help you find your way to University House; however,  please allow 15-20 minutes before your first session is scheduled to start for the walk through campus and to check-in.

If you feel like stretching your legs and want to get a feel for the area, we’re a pretty easy 15 minute walk from Manchester city centre. From the Arndale Centre, head across the River Irwell to Chapel Street and take a left…that will bring you past Salford Central train station (on your left), Salford Cathedral (a bit further up on your right) and, about half a mile later, right to our doorstep.

Manchester International Airport is 10 miles from the University. There are regular, direct train services to and from Salford Crescent station and Manchester Piccadilly. Buses also link the airport and Manchester city centre. To find the best journey for you, see Transport for Greater Manchester’s Route Explorer.
