Salford National Scholarship Programme

We are participating in the Government's National Scholarship Programme to help with the costs of going to University.

Our Salford National Scholarship Programme awards a £2,000 discount against your fees and a £1,000 cash award in year one of your study.

We have 390 awards available to students starting in September 2012. To be eligible to apply for an award you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Declared household residual income of £25,000 or less and from the Greater Manchester area
  • Studying towards a BA (Hons), BSc (Hons), BEng (Hons), LLB (Hons), MChem, MEng, MEnv or MPhys course
  • Entering year one of study (level 4)

Meeting the criteria does not guarantee you an award. Priority will be given to applications from:

  • Students who have been in the care system
  • Students from neighbourhoods where participation in higher education is low

You will not be eligible for the Salford National Scholarship Programme irrespective of your income, if you are a student who is:

  • NHS-funded
  • Funded by the training and Development Agency for Schools
  • Directly continuing from one course to another (for example from foundation degree or HND on to the final year of an honours degree)
  • Transferring in from another institution
  • Undertaking a postgraduate qualification
  • Studying part-time at less than 25 per cent intensity of the full-time equivalent
  • Fees are paid or part-paid through a sponsorship arrangement
