University living
My son or daughter would prefer to live at home whilst studying…
If your son or daughter decides to commute then Salford’s campus is easily accessible no matter how they choose to travel. Salford Crescent train station is located in the centre of our campus and there are buses in and out of the city centre every few minutes. We are also only a couple of minutes by car from the motorway network and car parking is available for students if they hold a seasonal car parking permit (telephone 0161 295 5463 for further information).
How can we see the accommodation?
You can see our accommodation on one of our open days. Book a place or for further information telephone 0161 295 4223.
Is accommodation guaranteed for first years?
We have over 3,000 study bedrooms in University and partner accommodation. First year undergraduate students are guaranteed accommodation if they fulfil the following conditions:
- they have accepted an unconditional offer for a course at the University
- they have submitted an online application form by 1st September of the year of admission
This applies even if your son or daughter lives locally. Accommodation is usually available for subsequent years. We have seven halls of residence available and further information is available online or by telephoning 0161 295 4167/5554.
What is the distance between the University's accommodation and the teaching facilities?
This can be important in terms of additional costs of travel, time spent commuting and how early your son or daughter will have to get up in the morning for their lectures. All of the University of Salford's accommodation is within half a mile of the University and there is a free bus during term time.
What is included in the cost of accommodation?
Our accommodation is of a high standard. Access-controlled car parking is provided at each site and there is either a member of University staff or security personnel available 24 hours a day.
The benefit of choosing our accommodation means that your son or daughter's weekly rent will include:
- Automatic membership to the University's leisure centre and swimming pool
- 24/7 high-speed broadband internet access
- Contents insurance
- All utility costs
Does my son or daughter need to bring anything with him/her?
Students living in University accommodation usually need to provide their own bedding, cutlery, and crockery.
How does my son or daughter apply for accommodation?
Prospective students can apply for accommodation using our online booking form.
In August, when your son or daughter knows they are definitely coming, their accommodation will be confirmed.
