BSc (Hons) Counselling and Psychotherapy (B9C8) / with Foundation Year (B9C9)

Thank you for applying for a place on this course and congratulations on securing a telephone interview. Please read the following instructions carefully, and make sure you allow plenty of time to prepare for your interview.

What will happen at the interview?

The interview will typically take 15-20 minutes. The focus of the interview is on your interest in being a professional counsellor, your experience of helping people and your reflections on your own process of personal development. It is therefore not an interview about your academic knowledge but rather focuses on the experience you will be bringing to counselling training.

Please note, all our offers are conditional on the outcome of an extended CRB/DBS checking process that we organise once students have enrolled in September. If you are aware of any issues that would arise in undertaking a CRB/DBS check it is helpful to discuss these during your interview as this can avoid delays closer to the start date for the course.

Can’t make your interview date

If you have any queries regarding your interview, or if this date is not suitable please contact the enquiries team on 0161 295 4545. Please note that if you do not attend your interview without rescheduling, you may not be offered a second interview date. Please check the details which are held on your UCAS application are correct and if not please update these a minimum of a week before the interview date and time.

I no longer want to attend my interview

If no longer wish to attend your interview we will not be able to continue with your application to the University of Salford. Please email us on enquiries@salford.ac.uk stating your intention to withdraw your application. You should quote your full name, date of birth and UCAS ID number, so that we can deal with your request efficiently. Once we receive this email, we will then make your application unsuccessful on UCAS.

Any offer of a place will be conditional upon our receipt of:

  • A satisfactory Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check (If you have any concerns about this, please discuss these at your interview)
  • Satisfactory health screening
  • Satisfactory references (if not provided before your interview)
  • Successful completion and proof of the required entry qualifications
