Feedback from Applicant Visit Day visitor

Your Applicant Visit Day is almost here! We’re looking forward to seeing you.

We’ve put this page together to give you a bit more information about the day but if you feel like we’ve missed anything, feel free to get in touch on 0161 295 4545, or @salforduni.

What’s happening

You’ll have seen the overall schedule for the day when you booked as well as in your confirmation email but we’ve also included it below if you’d like to have another look at it. Any optional sessions you’ve booked onto in the morning are confirmed in your booking confirmation email but we’ll send them again a few days before your visit. We’ve put together a guide for Parents and Carers too.

  • 9:15am: Check-in starts at University House
  • 10am – 11am: Optional Session 1
  • 11am – 12pm: Optional Session 2
  • 12pm – 1pm: Optional Session 3
  • 1pm – 1:30pm: Lunch
  • 1:30pm – 2pm: Welcome Talk
  • 2pm onwards: Course Sessions - Select your course below to see details. We'll take you from the Welcome Talk to wherever your session is taking place, including busing you up to MediaCityUK if your session takes place there.
  • 3:30pm – 5pm: Return buses from MediaCityUK

During the lunch break, we’ll be providing lunch for you and your guests – including halal and vegetarian options. Or, if you fancy finding something for yourself, our Students’ Union run kitchen and bar – Atmosphere – is located in the same building and has a full menu of pizzas, burgers, salads, wraps and more.

Location and Parking

Throughout the day we’ll take you from place to place depending on which sessions you’ve booked to attend, so don’t worry about needing to find your way around. We’ve included a map in the guide you’ll receive when you check-in and at the below link, though, to help you  get a feel for the campus.

If you are attending any of the optional sessions in the morning, you'll need to visit University House on our Peel Park campus - building number 11 on our campus map – where you can check-in and grab a drink before we split you off into these sessions.

If you are coming only for the Welcome Talk and afternoon course sessions starting at 1:30pm, please come straight to Chapman Building, building number 10 on the campus map.

The afternoon course sessions will be taking place either on our Peel Park campus or our MediaCity campus, depending on which course you have applied for. We recommend that you attend the Welcome Talk first and we will take you to from there to wherever your course session is taking place. To see which  campus you’ll be on, select your course from the above list.

Please note that the final coach heading to MediaCityUK will be leaving from Chapman Building at 2pm. We will then have return coaches coming back to Peel Park campus after the academic sessions have finished.

How to find us

The University is just 2km from Manchester city centre on the A6 and is well-served by Salford Crescent train station – located right on campus – and regular bus services both into and out of Manchester.

While we do have on-campus parking, we’d recommend you use public transport where possible as parking does become quite limited during term time. If you do choose to drive, be sure to read the Parking section below as we’ll be running a park-and-ride on the day.

We have multiple pay-by-app car parks on campus – any of which you’re welcome to use and have listed them below. Payment for these is via the parking website/app, PayByPhone and only Irwell Place and Allerton car parks have optional pay and display machines.

Parking can become very limited on campus during teaching weeks and our smaller car parks regularly fill up, so we’d suggest you consider using Irwell Place car park.

We’ll have signs and Student Ambassadors to help you find your way from it to University House; however,  please allow 15-20 minutes before your first session is scheduled to start for the walk through campus and to check-in.
