Applicant Visit Days

Our Applicant Visit Days give offer holders a real flavour of what life is like as a Salford undergraduate student.

Once you have been made an offer you will be sent an invitation to book your place an Applicant Visit Day. In the meantime, you can view available dates by choosing a course below. There’s also more information below about the events themselves.

These events are held here at the University and run on Wednesdays and Saturdays. They offer you the best opportunity to explore the campus with a day tailored to suit you. You will have the opportunity to attend taster subject sessions and speak with staff and students about studying at our institution. You will also be able to find out further information about our accommodation, the Students' Union, Sports Centre and more.

Because these events are for offer-holders, the majority of Applicant Visit Days will take place between February and April.

More Information

Our Applicant Visit Days are the next step on from our Open Days. Even if you have attended an Open Day, we would strongly advise you to attend an Applicant Visit Day as they provide invaluable insight to what it will be like to study and socialise at the University of Salford.

You will have the opportunity to build your own Applicant Visit Day by selecting what you’d like to do during the day. The Wednesday events will include optional, bookable talks and tours in the morning, followed by a welcome talk and subject-related activities in the afternoon. Once you have booked your place, your confirmation email will contain your personalised schedule for the day. Depending on the activities you select, the day could start as early as 10am and may run as late as 5pm.

The Saturday events will have the same welcome and subject activities running at a set time during the day, with the optional sessions running as drop-ins around these. We’ll confirm the schedule a little nearer the time, but the event will run from 10am to 5pm.

The optional sessions include:

  • Campus tour
  • Accommodation tours
  • askUS student support and finance talks
  • Disability and student support drop-ins
  • Students’ Union and activities at Salford

The specific content of the afternoon sessions will vary by course, but will usually include:

  • A more detailed look into your course, the way you will be taught and how you will be assessed
  • The opportunity to speak with current students about their experiences, both on your course and as a student at the University of Salford
  • A tour of the specialist facilities (if applicable) and a chance to get hands-on

Choosing the right university for you is one of the most important decisions you will make for your future. As an offer holder for one of our courses, you have already narrowed down your choices and now it is all about making sure you have all of the information in order to make that final, all important decision.

We are thrilled to have made it into your shortlist and to help you make that final choice, we would like to offer you the opportunity to join us for an event exclusive to students who have been offered a place at the University of Salford.

The majority of your Applicant Visit Day will take place at the campus at which your chosen course is predominantly based. We have three campuses – Peel Park, Frederick Road and MediaCityUK. To allow you to see the accommodation and student support services, each Applicant Visit Day will include some activity at Peel Park and we’ll have coaches on hand to transport you to our other campus if your course activities are taking place there.

The Applicant Visit Days are more focused than an Open Day so they are for offer-holders only. It doesn’t matter whether or not you have been to an Open Day before, you will receive more of a subject focus at the Applicant Visit Day and it will give you a chance to have another look round. You’re welcome to bring along your parents, guardian or anyone else who will be supporting you in your decision to come to University.

During the afternoon when the subject sessions are taking place, we’ll have an information session for parents, guardians and supporters and plenty of tea and coffee to keep them occupied. For most courses parents and supporters can attend the subject sessions if they would prefer, but for some subject sessions it may not be possible due to either space constraints or the type of activity that is happening (e.g. dance or performance courses). Don’t worry, we’ll look after them!

Once you have applied and received an offer from us, you will be sent an email invitation to book onto one of a number of Visit Day dates. We’ll start sending out the invitations in January and they’ll be sent automatically thereafter when new offers are made. The booking page will give you the chance to tailor your day based on your individual circumstances. Once you’ve booked your Visit Day you will be sent a confirmation email including a link to a website with information on travel and transport and our tips for making the most of your visit.
