University of Salford Manchester

Activities with schools and colleges

We are happy to organise a visit to your School or College and offer a range of higher education related presentations. The main aim of these sessions is to encourage students and parents to make informed decisions on their future. The information below provides a taste of what we can offer.

Talks and guidance

Providing timely information and advice can be hugely beneficial to Year 12 and Year 13 students as they make important decisions about their future. We have created our range of talks to inform and encourage students, aiding the transition into Higher Education. Examples of some of the talks we are able to provide are set out below:

Choosing the right university and course is an important decision but it can be difficult to know where to start with over 37,000 courses in the UK to choose from. Our introduction to HE talk will provide students with information on the benefits of university study, how to choose a course, finance, accommodation and the UCAS process.
The Personal Statement is the one chance a student has to show passion for their subject area to universities. Our hints and tips presentation provides students with good and bad examples along with a step-by-step guide to structuring a Personal Statement that makes an impact!
Our Student Finance & Budgeting talk encourages students to begin thinking about the outgoing costs of student living and how to successfully manage their finance throughout a degree. We will cover areas such as tuition fees and student loans along with details of the scholarships available at Salford.
Our courses open doors to rewarding and challenging careers in health, science, engineering, the arts, the built environment, media, law and business. This presentation includes details about the campus, accommodation, work placements and extracurricular activity available to students choosing to study with us.
Salford is the only University with a campus at MediaCityUK. We’re neighbours with some of the biggest broadcasters including the BBC and ITV and over 80 companies from the creative and digital media sectors. Find out more about the courses and facilities (which include TV & radio studios, a journalism centre and editing suites) available to Salford students studying at our MediaCityUK Campus
