Campus

Come to Salford and you’ll be based on a leafy riverside campus that is only one and half miles from Manchester city centre – so you’ll get the best of both worlds.

We’ve got three campuses all within 10 minutes walking distance of each other and there’s a free campus bus service so it’s easy to get around. We’re also investing heavily in our campus buildings and facilities, to ensure you get a great university experience.

First-class facilities

We are committed to providing first-class facilities for our students and researchers. The University has made strategic investments in high quality, high profile laboratories to reflect Salford’s focus on real-world, people centred research.

The Think Lab provides state of the art facilities in a futuristic environment enabling researchers to engage in research that harnesses the leading developments related to Information and Communication Technologies providing new solutions to current and future challenges faced by industry, commerce and the community.

The world class acoustic facilities include an anechoic chamber, semi-anechoic chambers, transmission suite and reverberation chamber, silencer test rig, listening rooms, recording studios, and music technology and video suites.

The centre for Rehabilitation and Human Performance research is designed to collect objective data on human kinetics and kinematics, muscular activity and other physiological measures. It features the latest motion tracking and analysis software and is at the forefront of multidisciplinary clinical research at Salford.

The centre for Virtual Environments is the UK’s leading centre researching telepresence and has an unprecedented critical mass of systems to research goals.

At MediaCityUK we will have four floors which will include digital Performance labs, HD TV studios and post-production suites.

Building investment

We are part of the £500m development at Salford Quays which houses the BBC alongside the University and many other high-profile international media companies.

Our £22m Health & Social Care building, based on the Frederick Road campus, has purpose-built practice clinics, hospital ward facilities and a human performance lab.

Based on our main campus, Peel Park, our £10m Law School building includes a dedicated law collection and trial room. The student union and our leisure centre are also based on this campus.

The Adelphi campus is home to our Media, music & Performance students and our Art & Design school. By 2013 we’ll have our £47m state-of-the-art new building for the School of Media, Music & Performance ready for use.
