Enhance your Employability on the MSc programme

Students enrolling on all Salford Business School's MSc courses have the option of undertaking the Business Innovation Project which enhances employability by offering you the choice of:

  • A 6 month work placement - an integrated period of work-based learning in a suitable organisation, as agreed by Salford Business School
  • An assessed internship - a 1 to 3 month monitored work or service/volunteer experience agreed by Salford Business School, in which you will have specified learning goals and will need to actively reflect on what is being learned throughout the experience
  • A "Live Project" - work as part of a team on a project provided by a UK or international business organisation. The allocation of teams and responsibilities will be dependent on the type of organisation
  • A dissertation - a conventional dissertation of 12,000 to 15,000 words, consisting of research question, aims and objectives, rationale for undertaking the study, literature review, research methodology, analysis of findings, conclusions and recommendations.

Pre-masters courses that help you go further

Pre-masters courses are designed to bridge the gap between undergraduate and postgraduate learning and are perfect for those who want to progress to postgraduate study but do not meet the entry criteria. They are also a useful option for international students who are coming to study in the UK for the first time.

The School of Arts & Media is a pioneering institution for creative arts and media education in the UK, with a distinctive reputation built upon strong links with the creative industries and a focus on developing graduates who possess the personal and professional skills that employers value.

Postgraduate programmes in the School of Arts & Media emphasise professional development and encourage students to take their learning beyond the classroom with a host of placements, live projects, exhibitions, events and networking opportunities as an integral part of many of the modules.

Courses are developed in partnership with prominent industry figures and focus upon developing the skills that employers look for in their graduate recruits such as professionalism, specialist knowledge with the capacity to work across disciplines, business awareness and the ability to think creatively.

The School also offer a Professional Doctorate (Health and Social Care) where the taught component is two years part-time and is concerned with critical self-assessment and the identification and development of strategies for use in the practice area. The research component is three years part-time, building on the taught component to develop evidence-based practice and introduce innovative strategies in all areas of professional practice.

Postgraduate taught courses in the School of the Built Environment develop highly skilled managers who are able to take on the challenges facing the future built environment. All reflect the very latest thinking and practice in their disciplines and benefit from our internationally acclaimed research work.

The School has been leading the research agenda in the built environment for more than 20 years, continuously rated top in the national Research Assessment Exercises and top research power school during the last of these exercises in the UK. We are world-renowned in areas such as sustainability, energy, urban and regional futures, construction management, lean construction, Building Information Management and strategic IT, disaster resilience, procurement, quantity and building surveying and architecture, among others.
