Your reaction to Salford Welcome
Thank you for your overwhelmingly positive response to Welcome 2016 and we hope that you’re now starting to settle into life at Salford.
This year’s welcome featured performers, the launch of Engels’ beard, huge brands, superstar DJs and much, much more.
To determine your reaction to our Salford Welcome, we have been running a student survey and from this we have found that 94% felt welcome or very welcome – thanks for all your feedback.
The survey also revealed that 91% found registration to be efficient or very efficient, with 88% of you completing it online.
In addition to the survey, we also received lots of positive feedback on social media from you. We have pulled together all this feedback below the article - using Wakelet, an interactive content gathering tool created by Salford graduates.
Highlights from this feedback, include Ryan Warwick’s post saying “I am more than impressed with the vast amount of support available at Salford Uni,” Laurie Murray’s comment saying “My new uni is actually amazing, so impressed,” and Michelle Doodson’s comment saying “Thank you for the fantastic welcome, looking forward to start the course.”
The social media feedback also showed an overwhelmingly positive reaction to the new features on campus – especially the New Adelphi building. Ryan Graham said: “Feels so good to be back at uni and spend my final year in the new Adelphi! Can't wait to get stuck in with theatre project,” while Whitney Henderson said: “The New Adelphi is just…WOW.”
We’d like to thank all staff and all stakeholders that were involved in welcome. Special thanks go to the Students’ Union, SALFOOD, the Sports Centre and Campus Living Villages.
President of the Students' Union, Ceewhy Ochoga said: "Welcome week is the best time of year for the Students' Union as all our amazing members return and new ones join us.
"Last year was great as I was part of the activities as a student, however, this year was particularly brilliant for me as I experienced it as a Sabbatical officer. All the months of planning finally came to life, and diverse students from different backgrounds participated and enjoyed the majority of the events we put on.
"The collaboration with the University this year was also very encouraging and we’re looking forward to next year already!"
On a personal note, we’d like to thank our student hosts – there were 28 hosts involved and they helped with a number of things from wayfinding to making the campus look fantastic.
Thanks very much for your feedback and we look forward to Welcome 2017.
