Take part in our 5K Vice-Chancellor Fun Run
Our lush green campus will be transformed into a running track on Friday 29 April, when we ask you to lace up your running shoes for our official charity Kidscan.
The annual 5K fun run sees a host of staff, students and members of the local community join our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Helen Marshall, in raising money for the local children’s cancer charity.
Last time the run took place, there was over £500 raised for the charity and over 50 runners took part, but we’d love for you to help us top this success and make this our best fun run yet.
Participants can join the Vice-Chancellor by running, walking or jogging their way to the finish line, which will be reached through Peel Park campus, across David Lewis Playing Field and historic Peel Park itself.
Daley O’Neal from the Sports’ Centre, part of the team co-ordinating the event says: “We hope to build on 2014’s tremendously successful event, by generating even more money for our official charity, in addition to getting more people involved.”
Registration is at 12.15pm on the day, and the event will begin at 1pm.
Vice Chancellor, Professor Helen Marshall added: “We are proud to bring you our Annual Vice Chancellor’s 5K Fun Run, in association with our Sport Centre and Kidscan. Through sport we can unite for a great cause and create a sense of community on campus. The 5K has proved to be a great way of achieving these aims, and we look forward to even more of you participating in this great sporting event on Friday 29th April.”
As well as runners, we also need volunteers on the day to marshal and help our athletes cross the finish line. If this interests you sign up to volunteer and cheer on Advantage.
It costs just £8 to enter and all proceeds go to Kidscan. Sign up here. In addition, all prospective runners can receive a free training plan for the event on request.
