Salford student secures year-long marketing placement with SALFOOD

Salford BSc Business and Management student, Stefanos Patelis, has gained a one year marketing placement at SALFOOD, after impressing the on-campus catering company with his wide range of experience.

The budding marketer began an extensive search for an industrial placement when he completed his second year, and was delighted when his determination and hard work paid off.

Stefanos said: “I am really excited about this chance that SALFOOD has given me. It is exactly what I was aspiring for in order to continue my marketing career and further develop my skills in the field I am studying. I believe this job will definitely show me a different side of the business world that I am thrilled to discover.

“I have been given very important and interesting responsibilities that I am happy and ready to undertake. I had been applying for placements for many months and thanks to the motivation from my tutors and everyone around me, I never gave up. It’s time to put theory into practice.”

Stefanos will be involved in delivering student engagement activities across campus, liaising with students to gather feedback on food on campus and much more.

Misbah Haque, Student Engagement, Marketing & Hospitality Manager at SALFOOD, said: “Employing Salford students is just one of the many ways SALFOOD supports the University community. I’m keen that we give Salford students opportunities to work with us and that we continue to support student employability.  Students are also often the early adopters of trends and we want to engage with them on a peer-to-peer level.

“We are thrilled to be inviting Stefanos into our team at SALFOOD, his CV and interview really stood out as he had done a wide range of voluntary work to gain experience and his portfolio was impressive. He will have opportunities to gain experience in a range of areas including social media, blogging, events, and PR, and will be given plenty of opportunities to attend conferences, food fairs, manage projects and much more”.
