Lion mascot to support future Salford students – and you can join too
You can get involved in supporting future Salford students – and hang out with a lion mascot at the same time.
The Office of University Advancement have organised Class Giving day which aims to engage current students into becoming part of creating opportunities for future Salford students.
You will also have a chance to take a selfie with Maxwell the lion who will be roaming around the campus on the day.
As well as playing games, you can even take your very own mini Maxwell home for a suggested donation.
All proceeds go directly towards our first Class Giving scholarship, which will be awarded to a student who has demonstrated academic excellence but lacks the financial support they need to go to university.
The student-led initiative is perfect for those who want to work as a collective to ensure that higher education is possible for anyone who wishes to take their studies further.
First-year broadcast journalism student and Class Giving Ambassador Amber said: “Class Giving is important because I have seen first-hand how challenging it is to be a student financially.
“It aims for us all to join together to do what we can so that the next generation of Salford students can have the opportunity to come to uni.
“Other students should join in with Class Giving day on the 29th because it’s a lot of fun, it’s for a good cause – and you get to meet Maxwell the Lion, of course!”
The event will take place on Monday 29 February from 12noon-4.00pm in Lowry 1 of Peel Park Quarter Halls and in the foyer of University House.
