Bodybuilder Who Matched Arnie’s Record Flexing His Muscles in the Sports Centre
A WORLD champion bodybuilder who has matched Arnold Schwarzenegger’s record will be flexing his muscles in the University’s sports centre this week.
Staff and students will be able to see James ‘Flex’ Lewis, who has followed in Arnie’s footsteps by winning six consecutive Mr Olympia titles, on Wednesday November 29.
The Welsh-born bodybuilder, who lives in Florida and regularly appears on magazine covers and TV shows in the US, will give a demonstration of his weightlifting abilities from 11am.
Dr Steve Atkins, the University’s Director of Sport, Exercise and Physiotherapy, will talk about the science of muscle activation – and describe what is happening as Flex does his exercises.
This will be followed by a question and answer session, which all staff and students are invited to attend, from midday.
Anyone who wants to watch the weightlifting demonstration should contact Matthew Monks, the University sports centre’s fitness and service manager, on M.Monks@salford.ac.uk. Sadly, only a limited number of places will be available for this, and places have to be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, so anyone interested should get in touch early.
