askUS makes yet another improvement to its service
askUS, our one-stop-shop for all student enquiries, has launched a new, much easier phone system whereby you can contact all services by calling just one number 0161 295 0023.
The services you can contact through this one number, giving you much less to remember, include immigration, check-in – UKVI, Fees, Awards and Bursaries, Student Registration and Records, Timetabling, Student Finance, Timetabling, Payment Point, Salford Support Fund (SSF), Disability and Learner Support, Wellbeing, Counselling and Careers and Employability.
This is just one of a number of improvements made by the service in the past year, with the team now offering extended opening hours from 08:30-18:00 on Mondays to Fridays and 12:00-16:00 on Saturdays in Clifford Whitworth Library, so that we’re here as much as we can be to answer your queries. We’re also looking to offer even more ways to keep in touch, with an askUS Twitter account and an askUS a Question service (online chat) set to launch in the coming months.
This news comes just weeks after askUS celebrated its first birthday; a year in which they helped over 32,000 students who visited the askUS service desks and sent over 27,000 student letters – enough to stretch all the way from the university to Old Trafford when laid end to end.
The birthday celebrations spanned a whole week with staff handing out askUS branded pens, trolley coins, post-it pads and sweets from a dedicated stand in University House. There was also some fun to be had by the staff, with an anniversary buffet lunch taking place in University House and a party in the Students’ Union Atmosphere Bar and Kitchen.
One way we hope to make our second year of service as successful as our first, if not more, is by continuing to involve our students in the conversation. You can give us your views about the services and any improvements you may want to see, with our tellUS feedback cards. These can be picked up anywhere in University House and completing one just adds to the askUS/student co-creation journey.
