Eid Festival On Campus
Come to Eid Festival on Campus on 27 September, 12pm-2pm at Walkway Opposite the Library
The Jewish calendar, and the Muslim calendar, are both based on the moon rather than the sun.
Last week saw the start of the Jewish New Year festival, Rosh Hashanah, marking the start of the year 5778, counted from the Biblical start of the world.
The same date also saw the start of the Muslim New Year, marking the start of the year 1439, counted from the Hijrah, when the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) migrated from Mecca to Medina. Many members of the Muslim community will be fasting over the weekend remembering Moses` victory over Pharaoh.
An Eid celebration is planned on campus this Wednesday the 27th of September where all students and staff are invited.
