Team Salford row into fourth place at championships

Congratulations to Team Salford who finished joint fourth on the medal table for the British Universities & College Sports (BUCS) Indoor Rowing Championships 2016. The high ranking position put us ahead of the likes of Durham, Bath and Reading, though we were pipped at the post by teams from Edinburgh, Cambridge and Queen’s College Belfast who came first, second and third respectively.

A special well done in particular goes to Physiotherapy student Suzanna Rodgers who won a gold medal in the championships. She achieved first place in the Women’s Beginner 1000m race with a time of 3:32:7 - a full two seconds faster than second place.

Rowing has been one of the main focuses for Team Salford this year, with students involved having strength and conditioning training and access to sports rehabilitation support from the School of Health Sciences.

Rachael Davies, Sports Partnership Manager, said: “Coming fourth in the Indoor Rowling Championships is a fantastic achievement and testament to both our talented students and the successful partnership between the Student and School of Health Sciences this year."
