SALFOOD awarded Bronze Food for Life catering mark

SALFOOD has just achieved the Soil Association’s Bronze Food for Life catering mark for serving fresh meals that meet nutritional guidelines in the Allerton and Maxwell restaurants. 

More and more, people want to know where their food comes from and how it has been made. Catering mark-award holders have proved that they maintain high standards of traceability, freshness and provenance. The award recognises restaurants and caterers who serve food which is prepared from scratch and free from controversial additives.

Since January 2015 SALFOOD has been working in partnership with the University to deliver improvements to transform catering on campus. SALFOOD has invested heavily in their premises, catering team and menus to create a first class experience.

Misbah Haque, Student Engagement, Marketing & Hospitality Manager said: "We’re delighted to have achieved the Bronze Food for Life Catering Mark. We’ve always strived to serve fresh and nutritious meals, and this award recognises our commitment. We’re already thinking about how we can work towards our Silver award."

Martin Sawyer, Chief Executive of Soil Association Certification, said: "The bronze catering mark is an excellent achievement which recognises the vital role that fresh, seasonal meals play in healthy, planet-friendly menus, especially for large-scale catering. It reassures customers that their meals are free from GM ingredients, trans fats and prepared from scratch. A huge congratulations to SALFOOD on achieving the catering mark."
