Communications expert to speak at Women's Voice event
The Secretary General of the Malaysian Ministry of Communications and Multimedia, Dr Sharifah Zarah will deliver a special talk at the first event in our Women's Voice Speaker Series.
Dr Sharifah Zarah has a truly fascinating career background; her work as a social planner and gender expert has meant she’s been actively involved in advancing gender equality both at national and international levels. She has been a spokesperson and negotiator at various United Nations summits and actively pursues her passion for empowering women in communications, innovation and digital economy.
Although over 95 per cent of jobs today have a digital component, the digital gender gap persists. Using her knowledge and experience, Dr Sharifah Zarah will discuss how women can excel in today's digital world.
Participants are encouraged to share their knowledge, insights and experiences on women’s issues and challenges, in all spheres of their lives (particularly in the digital era).
Women’s Voice Chair Dr Kirsty Fairclough said: “This is the first talk in our speaker series and it is a huge honour to welcome Dr Sharifah Zarah to the University for this special Women’s Voice session.
"Women’s digital inclusion is crucial in empowering them both as beneficiaries of development as well as drivers of change towards social and economic equality. The Women’s Voice team is organising a diverse range of inspirational women to speak to staff and students here at Salford about their career journeys - stay tuned for much more to come.”
The session will take place on Thursday 4th May (1.00PM-2.30PM). We are anticipating that spaces for this event will go quickly so you are advised to book your free place soon.
