“Artificial intelligence and machine learning is a field that is moving at lightning speed and has tremendous potential across the healthcare sector…that is why I am pleased to announce that we have today launched our initial technology partnerships Code of Conduct – 10 principles which set out the rules of engagement between industry and the health and care system. These principles provide a basis to deepen the trust between patients, clinicians, researchers and innovators.” – Lord O’Shaughnessy, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Health
In 2017 the government identified AI and data as one of the four “grand challenges” in which the UK can lead the world in technology in its Industrial Strategy published last November. Then in April, the government signed an AI sector deal, while Prime Minister Theresa May claimed that over 20,000 lives will be saved every year under plans to use artificial intelligence to diagnose cancer patients before their symptoms have even developed. At the same time, the ethical implications of AI have been recognised with the creation of the Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation and the announcement of a Code of Conduct for data-driven technology in September 2018, which is especially significant given that four out of five people feel they do not know how health data is used in the NHS.
The second annual AI in Healthcare conference will help you to develop a greater understanding of the investment, implementation and impact of AI in a variety of healthcare settings. The conference will focus specifically on problem-solving and overcoming challenges, offering a variety of insights, from industry leaders, academic experts and healthcare professionals. The programme will be based on latest developments and case studies, built around the key themes of innovation, ethics and data sharing, collaboration and problem-solving. Presentations from those already using AI will be supplemented by keynote speeches and a panel discussion, designed to provide an open conversation on the advantages and disadvantages of AI in healthcare.
Delegate feedback from our previous conference includes:
“Good blend of academic, public and private sector. I expected to learn more about ethics and legal framework behind AI and I did. Also, got a much better appreciation of AI in healthcare.”
“Good networking opportunities, brought together lots of people from different backgrounds”
“Great range of speakers and really interesting and useful information”
Join us for this AI in Healthcare conference, where you will hear from industry leaders, academic experts and healthcare professionals on the latest developments in utilising AI in the sector, learning and gaining insights from examples of best practice with organisations at the forefront of change and innovation. You will have the opportunity to question, discuss and debate the latest policies and projects, while understanding how AI could benefit your organisation. At the same time, you will have the chance to interact with colleagues, discuss challenges and contribute to wider thinking about the future role of AI in healthcare in the UK.
