About the Role

About SPD:

Salford Professional Development Ltd (SPD) was formed as a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Salford in 2012 and provides non-accredited learning and commercial focus to the University of Salford.  SPD Group has 2 separate business units within it.  

SPD focuses on continuous professional development and similar training courses across a range of subjects, preferably but not exclusively, aligned with programmes offered by the University of Salford.  It also delivers a number of events and conferences and is building its international presence in conjunction with the University’s priorities.

About the role:

The role requires the successful candidate to have experience of managing staff as you will be responsible for our team of sponsorship sales executives. The Sponsorship Sales Team Leader is a vital member of the team sourcing potential sponsors and achieving individual targets set in order to contribute to team targets, whilst also giving guidance to fellow team members and driving sales performance. They will influence the chances of event success by providing and confirming sponsorship at various venues. They will work to deliver continuous improvements to customer experience and add value through innovation.

The candidate will also manage client relationships with their Sponsors and delegates attending to achieve forecasts and enhance the quality of experience of both delegates and sponsors. High levels of organisation, attention to detail, exceptional customer service and time management skills are all essential requirements of this demanding role. Leadership skills are a must in this proactive role in order to achieve individual and team targets.

About you:

The Sponsorship Sales Team Leader position is suited to an individual with a passion for delegate experience and a drive for achieving targets. The role also requires the successful candidate to have exposure to management of staff in some form. The successful candidate will be managing a team of sponsorship executives whilst also achieving personal sales targets set. Reporting to the Head of Business Development the successful candidate will have knowledge and experience in telephone and email communications ideally in the events industry and work cross-functionally to manage conferences each month– utilising on site, the University of Salford campus and external venues.  You will be a proven sales professional with 360 sales cycle experience. The role also requires the successful candidate to have exposure to management of staff.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Sponsorship Sales Team Leader role is to fulfil the following duties and responsibilities:

-       Leading a sponsorship team to deliver set targets and KPI’s

-       Take a hands-on approach with the team providing mentoring, support and training

-       Generating weekly sales reports and updating the in-house CRM

-       Contributing sales to weekly team targets

-       Driving performance and conducting 1 to 1 meeting’s

-       Motivating staff to increase performance

-       Coaching and mentoring the team to capacity build staff

-       Report daily to the Head of Business Development
