Continued professional development (CPD) is fundamental to career progression, helping people to learn new skills, keep up with the changing demands of the workplace and gain valuable qualifications in the process.
With this in mind, Salford Professional Development has been established with the aim of consolidating the University’s expertise in this area, providing a wide selection of courses that have been designed specifically to further the careers of those who study with us.
Salford professional Development Ltd (SPD) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Salford and provides non-accredited learning and commercial focus to the University. SPD comprises 2 separate business units.
SPD focuses on continuous professional development and similar training courses across a range of subjects, preferably but not exclusively, aligned with programmes offered by the University of Salford. It also delivers a number of events and conferences and is building its international presence in conjunction with the University’s priorities.
UNITEMPS. Since January 2017, Unitemps, a student employment agency has been operating under the SPD umbrella. This reflects a desire to promote further growth in additional Business Units with student facing teaching, learning and development using SPD’s Infrastructure as a foundation for such evolution.
Salford Professional Development are seeking an experienced database executive with essential Microsoft Excel skills to take ownership of the organisation’s data and compliance procedures.
The role holder will be responsible for facilitating the usage of the databases across the organisation, whilst also maintaining, cleaning and analysing the database and performing tasks and audits to ensure we remain GDPR compliant.
The successful candidate should have:
A, I, P, T
BCS qualified or working towards qualification
Demonstrate on-going work-based development;
Hold an undergraduate degree (or equivalent), or be enrolled on an undergraduate degree course (or equivalent)
Background & Experience
In depth knowledge and experience of Microsoft Software, specifically Excel
Knowledge and understanding of data protection guidelines
Familiar with producing spreadsheets within Excel
Previous database management experience
Skills & Competencies
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
Have experience handling FOI and GDPR queries

Being organised with the ability to plan, prioritise, manage and track numerous concurrent activities to deliver work on time;
Repeated effort and tenacity when overcoming a number of obstacles to achieve a result;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to write in a clear and concise manner and record information accurately
The ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative to anticipate situations and problems and ability to advise of the appropriate solutions;
Work effectively as a team member, making others aware of information that may be useful to them and effectively
interacting with people across departments;
The ability to gather, collate and analyse information effectively from a range of sources to present and offer
knowledgeable workable solutions;
Have an exceptional eye for detail
