About the Role

Overview

Salford professional Development Ltd (SPD) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Salford and provides non-accredited learning and commercial focus to the University. SPD comprises  2 separate business units.

SPD focuses on continuous professional development and similar training courses across a range of subjects, preferably but not exclusively, aligned with programmes offered by the University of Salford. It also delivers a number of events and conferences and is building its international presence in conjunction with the University’s priorities.

UNITEMPS. Since January 2017, Unitemps, a student employment agency has been operating under the SPD umbrella. This reflects a desire to promote further growth in additional Business Units with student facing teaching, learning and development using SPD’s Infrastructure as a foundation for such evolution.

Role Detail Role Purpose

Salford Professional Development are seeking an experienced database executive with essential Microsoft Excel skills to take ownership of the organisation’s data and compliance procedures.

The role holder will be responsible for facilitating the usage of the databases across the organisation, whilst also maintaining, cleaning and analysing the database and performing tasks and audits to ensure we remain GDPR compliant.

Responsibilities

General Responsibilities

  • Supporting the business with the implementation of the overall database strategy, including system / procedure updates
  • Assisting with FOI requests
  • Keep up to date with general legislation changes within the compliance and data protection landscape
  • Maintaining the database to deliver clarity and consistency – merging, deleting, cleansing and updating records
  • Managing data exports including scheduling use of lists by marketing and sales departments
  • Manage the relationship with external data suppliers
  • Overseeing data imports to create targeted data sets, cleanse and merge
  • Update subscriptions and unsubscribes
  • Support Head of Shared Services on annual data audits
  • Attend meetings with stakeholders regards data compliance
  • Providing departments with data support where required
  • Provide insight and analysis – filtering into the database and segmenting as required
  • Work closely with the sales and marketing department to introduce best practices for data usage
  • Consolidate databases being utilised across the organisation to introduce a single customer view
  • Provide data training for new starters to ensure processes are adhered to

The ideal candidate will

  • Have Knowledge of data protection guidelines
  • Have outstanding data literacy, able to proactively identify and apply the most efficient solution to varied data processing requirements
  • Have experience handling FOI and GDPR queries
  • Advanced skills in Excel with competence in sorting, manipulating and formatting large data set including V-lookups
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working within a similar database administrator / executive role
  • Experience of handling data within a marketing, communications, sales capacity is desirable
  • Experience of working within CRM systems
  • Must be analytically minded with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work on projects alongside multiple teams and under your own initiative
