This module aims to apply an integrated knowledge and evidence base approach to the management of complex spinal pathology thus providing you with an enhanced range of clinical knowledge and skills in this specialist area.
It provides you with the opportunity to study and be taught by experts in the field and an opportunity for hands-on assessment and treatment workshops.
It is unique in that it covers the whole spectrum of spinal disorders from paediatric to the complex spines including tumours and infection. The wealth of expertise from neurosurgery, radiology, pain management in addition to orthopaedics.
Applicants should have a BSc (Hons) or equivalent health care degree or qualification in medicine equivalent to MBBS. You should also have a specialist interest in spinal orthopaedics, or be a doctor, nurse or therapist wishing to specialise within this area.
We welcome applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully.
The Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) process could help you to make your work and life experience count. The APL process can be used for entry onto courses or to give you exemptions from parts of your course.
Two forms of APL may be used for entry: the Accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning (APCL) or the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL).

This course is aimed at surgical trainees/orthopaedic surgical trainees (foundation level and above), sports physicians, specialist orthopaedic allied health professionals and nurses wishing to expand their knowledge and skills at a master's level.

This module will assist orthopaedic doctors and other specialists in spinal conditions to progress in this field. Many students have progressed to higher posts in spinal patient management roles as a result of achieving success in this module.
