The Salford Institute for Dementia, of which SURFACE is an integral partner, has been shortlisted in the UK Alzheimer’s Society ‘Dementia Friendly Awards’.
2014 marks the inaugural year of the awards scheme, which is sponsored by Lloyds Banking Group and supported by The Telegraph. Announced by actress Lynda Bellingham, Ambassador for the Alzheimer’s Society, on 17 March 2014, the awards are made up of seven categories, recognising communities, organisations and individuals who have helped to make their area more dementia friendly.
SURFACE is a leading research centre in the study of older people’s access to streets and neighbourhoods and is supporting a Pathway to Excellence funded PhD studentship in Dementia.
