Accidental Leaders

Accidental Leaders, a course for senior managers in creative agencies, was originally developed by Vision+Media, a not-for-profit company supporting the creative media industry in the North West. The programme has now been taken up by the University at its unique digital learning, teaching and research space at MediaCityUK and it is working with course developer Lynne McCadden and trainer Andrew Thomas to bring it to a fresh audience.

The programme will focus on company leaders who started their careers in a creative profession and feel as though they fell into a leadership role accidentally.

"With business models changing rapidly, senior managers and directors need to be able to adapt quickly,” said Lynne McCadden. “Accidental Leaders will help them use their creative brains to make their business a success.”

The course aims to help attendees develop the skills needed to build commercial value in their company; separate working ‘on’ the business to working ‘in’ it; lead and manage change; plan for growth and business development; understand the importance of networks and gain greater insight into their work as a leader and team member.

Accidental Leaders runs over an initial three-day period from Wednesday 9 to Friday 11 November, with a further two days on Friday 25 November and Friday 9 December to consolidate learning and to give delegates a chance to complete their tailored business goals.

The training costs £1,500 but qualifies for a £750 Management and Leadership bursary from the Leadership and Management Advisory Service, reducing the fee to £750.
