The module frames mindfulness within third wave CBT approaches such as Compassion Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as well contemporary neuropsychology.

The module will support you developing your own mindfulness practice - essential for effectively teaching mindfulness to others.

Teaching

This module has experiential learning at its heart. To authentically teach mindfulness to clients you need to have an embodied personal practice.

The two day workshops are used for exploration of theory and practice. Online resources and directed study in preparation for the workshops will ensure the contact time is most effectively utilized.

Pair-work, small group work, practical sessions are embedded throughout the workshops.

The second workshop, underpinned by this experiential learning, enables you to safely and effectively teach mindfulness, integrating this into your professional work.

Teaching contact time

  • Four whole day sessions as two workshops of two days each
  • If this module is part of your BABCP accreditation process you will need to undertake an additional 6 hours of directed study to achieve the required study hours

Assessment

  • For credit bearing module: One written casework related assignment : 5,000 words
  • For the non-credit bearing CPD version of this module there is no written assessment, just an attendance certificate. See the ONECPD module information.
