When women represent over 50% of the population why are they seen in much lower percentages in middle and senior positions within the workplace?
There are hurdles, both real and perceived, that women face when climbing the career ladder.Some are created by employers and work colleagues while others are self-imposed.
When a group of women in management come together and discuss their problems they discover that are not alone.This one day course will enable you to explore the common themes, why they arise, and how to deal with them.It will provide you with the opportunity to share the experiences of others in a similar position and consider their application to your situation. Working with peers in a supportive, facilitated environment, you can consider challenges you face and the best way to deploy your unique strengths.

Women in Business
Evidence is clear that women and men do act and think differently so it is important for women to understand more about the differences to be able to achieve their full potential.
Lack of self-confidence is one of the biggest hurdles facing many women, particularly if they consider applying for a new job or have just been promoted. Common worries include: “Am I good enough? Will I be listened to and taken seriously? How will I balance the demands of the job and my family life”.
Diversity, different viewpoints and constructive challenge are healthy and lead to better decision making so no-one should be afraid to promote a different viewpoint and argue persuasively.
Before the course, you will complete a behaviour questionnaire which you will use during the day to help you consider the best way to deploy your unique strengths in the challenges you personally face.

Ann Clayton CDir FIOD
Ann started her career as a computer programmer and worked her way up the ladder to her first management role. Over the years she gained her management experience, outside of IT, in sectors such as finance, manufacturing, and retail.
At the age of 37, Ann was appointed as one of the 6 Executive Directors who launched Clerical Medical International and she moved to the Isle of Man to set up and head their administration base.
In 2002 she left the corporate world and became a freelance Consultant, specialising in the training and development of managers and directors, and Corporate Governance. She was also a lecturer on the CMI management qualifications at the Isle of Man Business School.
Since gaining the Institute of Directors Diploma in Company Direction and qualifying as a Chartered Director in 2004 Ann has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director for a number of companies and is an approved tutor for the Institute of Directors, delivering their ‘Women as Highly Successful Directors’ course.
Since moving back to the UK in 2014 Ann has taken on new Non-Executive Director roles including Chair of Springboard Consultancy which is an international training company, with a proven track record in leadership and management training, and personal development courses, particularly addressing women's development issues
