Advanced Lone Worker Training
According to the 2011 British Crime Survey there were an average of 341,000 physical assaults to British workers during the 12 months prior to the study. The Personal Safety for Lone Workers course is designed to equip delegates with skills that could protect them from violence in the workplace. The course will cover the risks of working alone, including the risk of violence and Health and Safety. Topics covered will include identifying danger through body language and intuition, predicting behaviours, reading danger signals, and protecting yourself from violence using words, actions and the law.

There are no legal restrictions on working alone, regulations vary from role to role based on the findings of a risk assessment. However, the broad duties of the HSW Act and MHSW Regulations still apply, requiring the identification of hazards of the work, assessment of the risks involved, and putting measures in place to avoid or control the risks. David Brooksbank is a Criminologist and former police officer having retired from the police after 30 years service. David is well known in the UK for his unique expertise in personal safety and security training. He has written and delivered training courses for many organisations and is the author of the best selling Security Manual 8th Edition published by Ashgate Publishing. David is a qualified teacher, having gained a B.A. (Hons) in Education and Training from the University of Huddersfield. In addition he holds a Certificate of Education and a Post Graduate Certificate in Community Safety and Crime Prevention awarded by the University of the West of England. He has delivered training for many organisations including those in the education, museums, public services, NHS and local authority work sectors.
